Print on Demand Stickers: Real Costs and Margins

A print on demand sticker is cheap to make and expensive to ship. On Printify, Kiss-Cut Stickers start at $1.42 each, and the lowest shipping rate Printify lists for them is $4.29. Shipping costs about three times the product. Every decision about pricing stickers follows from that one fact: a lone sticker barely pays, a sticker sheet or a sticker added to a bigger order does.

What stickers cost on Printify

Starting prices from Printify's catalog in US dollars, checked on 12 October 2026. "From" is the lowest price Printify lists for the product, and shipping is the lowest listed rate; Printify Premium is the paid plan that lowers product prices.

ProductFromWith PremiumShipping fromSizes
Kiss-Cut Stickers$1.42$1.02$4.292x2 to 6x6 in
Square Stickers$1.50$1.07$4.292x2 to 6x6 in
Die-Cut Stickers$3.75$2.72$5.292x2 to 6x6 in
Sticker Sheets$6.21$4.49$5.296x4 to 11x8.5 in

Other sizes and options can cost more, and shipping depends on the destination and the option you pick, so treat the table as the floor. Printify Premium costs $24.99 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly, according to Printify's pricing page. On the cheapest kiss-cut option it saves 40 cents a sticker, so it pays for itself only past about 63 stickers a month on the yearly plan, or about 98 on the monthly one.

Why one sticker is a thin sale

Here is a single kiss-cut sticker sold on Etsy for $4.00, with the buyer paying $4.29 for shipping. Etsy's fees come from its 2025 annual report to the SEC: a $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price including shipping, and payment processing that "typically" runs between 3.0% and 6.5% of the total plus a flat fee per order that depends on the seller's country. We use 3% plus $0.25 below as an example; check the rate shown for your own shop.

LineAmount
Buyer pays (sticker + shipping)$8.29
Printify sticker-$1.42
Printify shipping-$4.29
Etsy listing fee-$0.20
Etsy transaction fee (6.5% of $8.29)-$0.54
Payment processing (example: 3% + $0.25)-$0.50
Left for you$1.34

$1.34 before any advertising, refunds or a design you paid for. One Etsy Offsite Ads sale, which costs 12% or 15% of the order depending on your sales volume, takes about another $1.00 to $1.24 of it. Raising the sticker to $5 or $6 is the simplest way to leave room for that.

The sticker sheet math

A sticker sheet carries several designs in one product, so the shipping cost is shared across all of them. The same calculation at $12.00 for the sheet and $5.29 shipping:

LineAmount
Buyer pays (sheet + shipping)$17.29
Printify sheet-$6.21
Printify shipping-$5.29
Etsy listing fee-$0.20
Etsy transaction fee (6.5%)-$1.12
Payment processing (example: 3% + $0.25)-$0.77
Left for you$3.70

About 2.8 times the single sticker, for one listing and one design file. That is why sticker sheets and themed packs are the format to test first, and single stickers work best as a cheap entry point next to your bigger products.

Four ways to make stickers pay

  1. Sell the sheet, not the sticker. A sheet of six to ten small designs around one theme (a teacher's planner set, a nurse's shift set, a dog breed set) gives the buyer variety and you one shipping charge.
  2. Match the sticker to a product you already sell. A sticker of the same design as a shirt or mug gives the buyer a cheap add-on. Check that both come from the same print provider and location before you promise one package; items from different providers ship separately and each carries its own shipping.
  3. Use the cheap formats for volume, die-cut for premium. Kiss-cut and square stickers start at $1.42 and $1.50. Die-cut stickers, cut to the shape of the design, start at $3.75 and should be priced as the premium option, not the default.
  4. Pick niches where a small item makes sense. Stickers for laptops, water bottles and planners fit audiences that already buy small accessories. That is a better test than a niche where buyers only ever buy shirts.

Is the sticker market too crowded?

Search demand is real: "print on demand stickers" alone draws about 880 US searches a month on Google, with low ranking difficulty (DataForSEO, 2026 data). Generic sticker designs are easy to copy and heavily listed, so the edge comes from a specific audience and a specific occasion, not from the format. Before you design a set, check how many listings already target the exact phrase you want to rank for; our niche validation checklist walks through it, and low competition Etsy niches lists where to look.

FAQ

How much does a print on demand sticker cost?

On Printify, kiss-cut stickers start at $1.42 and die-cut stickers at $3.75, with listed shipping from $4.29 (October 2026). Other sizes and options can cost more.

Is selling stickers on Etsy profitable?

A single sticker at $4 plus shipping leaves about $1.34 after Printify and Etsy fees in our example, before ads or refunds. Sticker sheets leave about $3.70 at $12. Profit comes from sheets, packs and add-on sales, not from lone stickers.

Should I offer free shipping on stickers?

Only if the price absorbs it. With shipping starting at $4.29, a "free shipping" sticker has to sell for about $8.30 to leave the same profit as $4 plus paid shipping.

Kiss-cut or die-cut?

Kiss-cut stickers are cut through the top layer only and stay on their backing sheet. Die-cut stickers are cut to the shape of the design and cost more than twice as much on Printify. Start with kiss-cut, and use die-cut where the shape is part of the appeal.
